His research lies between comparative authoritarianism, international relations, and regional studies on Western Asia and North Africa. With a focus on transnational repression, shrinking civic space, civil society resilience, authoritarianism and academic freedom. He has over 13 years of experience in research, teaching, and policy, including roles at WZB and GPPi, and collaborations with governmental and international organizations.
